What is your favorite sports moment at K?
The bus ride back to K after winning the MIAA tournament. We were all singing “We are the Champions” and talking about how fat our championship rings were going to be.

Why did you choose to attend Kalamazoo College?
I chose to come to K mainly because of the baseball program. I wanted to go somewhere that would allow me to have an immediate impact, play on the national stage, and be able to leave a legacy. Coach Ott’s vision for the program inspired me and after my visits I realized that all the players were just as bought in to the idea of always leaving the program better than you found it. All of those reasons plus seeing how fast-paced practices were run, all led to my decision to come to K.

What is your least favorite thing about road trips during your season?
When we don’t have enough people to play Mafia.

Who is your all-time favorite athlete and why?
My favorite athlete is Ken Griffey Jr. because he is extremely talented and always has fun playing the game. He was given the nickname “The Kid” because he plays the game with that type of mentality; always smiling, messing with teammates, and having fun which is the best way to play.

What is your favorite class and why?
Negotiation & Persuasion has been my favorite class so far. Dr. Hultberg gives us interesting scenarios to practice using our negotiation skills and it is fun trying to persuade people in order to get the best possible deal.

Who is your favorite professor and why?
Professor Wielopolski has been my favorite by far. She genuinely cares about her students, and was willing to work around our baseball schedule when we had to miss a class because of a game. She even took the time to write us cards on the last day of class wishing us good luck on our future endeavors. Small things like that go a long way and she was always willing to go above and beyond for all of her students which was greatly appreciated.

Other than the sport you play, what other sports activity are you good at?
I’m pretty good at sand volleyball, basketball, and shooting pool.

Is there another game in which you dominate? (card games, lawn games, pool, darts, etc.)
I love playing euchre and as long as my partner doesn’t completely screw things up I can almost always win. I am also a pretty solid poker player even though people who know me well can usually tell when I’m bluffing.

Who is your role model?
After both of my parents, my role models are Kirk Cousins and Derek Jeter because they are great leaders and do things the right way.

What do you enjoy most about practice?
I love it when we do range balls on the infield. We get to dive and show off our arms by making “highlight reel” plays which is definitely the most fun.

What are your plans/goals after graduation?
I’m hoping to get drafted and continue my baseball career. After my playing days are over, I’m planning on getting a job somewhere in the business field or in athletic administration. I am also interested in coaching baseball and basketball in the future.
