My Summer
This summer I had a software engineering internship at IBM in Austin, TX. Seeing what it is like on a team that was working to release a product was really interesting. I think I got a lot of value experiencing what that environment and workflow looks like from the inside. I also had a fantastic time living in Austin, it was a great city with lots of things to do and see. As someone considering a potential career in software engineering this was definitely an invaluable experience. Working on production level code for a product that is on its way to release has been eye opening, and interning at IBM has given me a lot of insight into myself and the ways in which I like and dislike to work.
What's Next
I am really looking forward to the swim season; it is crazy to think it will be my last. I am so excited to be back at Kalamazoo training hard and spending time with my teammates. I also think the insights that software development in a corporate environment have given me will provide a new and valuable lens through which to experience my final year of coursework.
