Mitchell Walters is in his first year as the Assistant Sports Information Director at Kalamazoo College after joining in July 2022. Previously, Walters was the Sports Information Director at Aquinas College, where he worked for a year after beginning in August 2021. At AQ, Walters was in charge of 32 varsity and six junior varsity sports. In addition, he maintained the athletic website, produced social media content, and wrote numerous articles while training two graduate assistants.
Walters owns a master’s degree in sports management from Minnesota State University, Mankato, where he worked as a graduate assistant in the athletic communications office from 2018-20. Walters was the head media contact for the women’s soccer, women’s hockey, and baseball teams in his tenure. His primary duties included:
- Preparing media content and game notes
- Recording statistics
- Writing game stories
- Updating social media accounts
- Conducting interviews
A native of Ottawa, Kan., Walters graduated from Ottawa University with an undergraduate degree in sports studies and a minor in mathematics in 2018. He started as a center for the football team from 2015-18 and volunteered in the sports information office during the spring seasons.
