KALAMAZOO, MI - The Kalamazoo College baseball team got a victory over Alma 8-4 on Sunday afternoon. The win moves the Hornets to 8-5 overall, and more importantly 5-0 in conference play. The teams were supposed to play two today, but the second game was cancelled due to rain.

Kalamazoo jumped all over the Scotts in the first three innings to gain a 5-0 lead heading into the fourth. First Jack Clark, who went 3-3 on the day knocked in two, then Nate Donovan knocked in another two. The fifth run came on a double steal in which Alex Fultz stole home.

Some errors by Kalamazoo led to the Scots creeping back into the ball game in the top of the fourth. They cut the Hornet lead to one run heading into the fifth. In the bottom of the fifth Ian Kobernick and Mitchell VanKoevering both had RBIs to help put away the game for the Hornets.

Freshman Ryan Orr was fantastic in the start, earning the W and moving to 3-0 this season. Orr threw all seven innings and only gave up two earned runs. The highlight of the day was a diving catch made by Aidan Cullen in left center.

The Hornets are scheduled to play Alma again tomorrow on the road.

UPDATED (5:20 p.m.) - The second game is now scheduled to be played Tuesday, March 31 at 4:30 p.m. in Kalamazoo.
