KALAMAZOO, Mich. – After losing just one player to graduation following a Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association tournament championship in 2016, the Kalamazoo College baseball team is receiving national attention heading into the 2017 season.

In a release from Collegiate Baseball on Dec. 21, the Hornets received votes in the publication's 2017 preseason poll. The Hornets are one of two MIAA programs to earn preseason recognition.

"We talk daily about moving our program ahead each and every year and this is another great step in that direction for Kalamazoo baseball," said Hornet Head Coach Mike Ott. "This recognition says a lot about where we are and how far we have come.  I am thrilled about this for all of our former and current players, and all of our supporters, and we are looking forward to the season ahead and building upon this to take even more steps forward for our program."

This is the first time in program history the Hornets have received votes in a national poll.
