KALAMAZOO, Mich. - The Kalamazoo College baseball team lost the first game of Sunday's doubleheader 3-1 to Adrian College.

Adrian took a 1-0 lead in the top of the fourth, but Kalamazoo quickly evened the score in the bottom half thanks to Ian Kobernick's towering home run to left field.

The visiting Bulldogs scored an unearned run in the top of the fifth while adding an insurance run in the top of the seventh before closing out the win.

Kobernick finished 2-for-3 with an RBI.

The second game of the doubleheader followed the tune of the first game as Adrian defeated the Hornets, 4-1.

The Bulldogs jumped out to a 4-0 lead courtesy of two-run innings in both the fourth and fifth before Kobernick launched another home run over the left field wall in the sixth.

The Hornets threatened in both the seventh and eighth getting two-runners on base in each inning but Adrian's Kyle Shepherd managed to wiggle his way out of both jams.

Kobernick led the Hornet offense again in game two going 2-for-4.

The Hornets, now 4-4 in the MIAA and 11-6 overall, will look to bounce back this Friday when they play the first two games of a four-game series with Hope College. First pitch at Woodworth Field is scheduled for 2 p.m.
