CHICAGO, Ill. – The Kalamazoo College baseball team took a break from Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association play Tuesday afternoon and did so in style as the Hornets defeated Illinois Tech on the road, 13-3, in seven innings.

Belting three home runs in the game's entirety, the Hornets broke out the bats immediately scoring two runs in the top of the first. Four more runs in the top of the second courtesy of three consecutive hits from Ryan Orr, Ian Kobernick and Jack Clark all but sealed the deal early on for K.

Jack Tagget started his second game of the season for the Hornets and tossed four effective innings of work, allowing just four hits and no runs. He earned the win for K.

Head Coach Mike Ott got multiple players off the bench involved in the later innings of the game and the Hornet bats remained hot led by Andre Gard who went 2-for-2 with a grand slam.

Kobernick led K's bats going 3-for-3 with an opposite field bomb to right center, three runs scored and an RBI. Orr drove in three runs, while Jack Dynes belted the Hornets' third home run of the game in the top of the seventh

In total, the Hornets recorded 10 hits.

MIAA play resumes for Kalamazoo on Saturday, April 22 when the Hornets travel to Olivet for two games before returning to Woodworth Field the following day closing out the four-game set.
