Baseball falls in MIAA Tournament championship game

ADRIAN, Mich. - The Kalamazoo College baseball team's quest for a second consecutive MIAA Tournament championship came to an end with an 8-3 loss to Adrian College on Friday.

Kalamazoo took a 1-0 lead in the second inning when Alex Fultz doubled home Mitch VanKoevering.

Adrian took advantage of a five-run third inning while knocking starter Ryan Orr out of the game.

Kalamazoo made it a 5-2 game in the fourth, but adrian added two more runs in the fifth. Kalamazoo scored again in the fifth to make it 7-3, but Adrian scored again in the sixth and kept the Hornet offense in check the rest of the way.

Seven different Hornets had a hit in the game.

Kalamazoo finished the season with a school record 31 wins (31-14) while finishing second in the conference during the regular season for the first time since 1990.
