Kalamazoo College's Steve Simmons signed to play professional baseball with the Utica Unicorns last week. He made his pro debut Saturday, June 3rd, pitching a scoreless inning while striking out two.
The Utica Unicorns compete in the United Shore Professional Baseball League.
Simmons, a native of Novi, Mich. (Brother Rice HS), recently finished his fourth season on Kalamazoo College's baseball team. He set a school record with 21 appearances in Kalamazoo's 45 games this season. His 56 career appearances ranks second all-time.
