ATLANTA, Ga. - The Kalamazoo College baseball team won its season opener 8-6 at Oglethorpe University on Sunday.

Kalamazoo scored a run in the top of the first and added two runs in the second to take a 3-0 lead. The host Stormy Petrels scored three in the bottom of the third to even the score, but Kalamazoo scored a pair again in the fourth to regain the lead. Kalamazoo led 8-5 after six innings and took that lead into the bottom of the ninth. Oglethorpe pushed one run across and had loaded the bases before Andre Gard recorded the final out for the save.

Ryan Orr went seven innings in the start to earn the win, allowing eight hits while striking out five and walking one.

Orr also had a big day at the plate going 4-for-4 with two walks, two RBIs three stolen bases and two runs scored.

Jordan Wiley had two hits in the leadoff spot including a double while stealing three bases and scoring four runs. Stefan Leclerc went 2-for-3 with a double and three RBIs.

Game Two

Oglethorpe won the second game 6-1.

Kalamazoo scored in the top of the first when Stefan Leclerc doubled home Jordan Wiley. Unfortunately for the Hornets, that was their only run as the Stormy Petrels scored a single run in the second and third innings before adding four runs in the fifth.

Jordan Wiley had two hits in the game with a stolen base. Chase Coselman joined Leclerc with a double.

Kalamazoo and Oglethorpe are scheduled to complete the series on Monday with a single game beginning at 11 a.m.
