HOLLAND, Mich. - The Kalamazoo College baseball team split a doubleheader at Hope College on Monday. Kalamazoo won the opener 14-1 before losing the second 9-4.
Game One
Kalamazoo scored twice in the first before a seven run third blew the game open for the Hornets. Kalamazoo added a pair of runs in the fourth and three in the seventh en route to the 14-1 win.
Kalamazoo had 13 hits in the game led by Chase Coselman's 3-for-4 effort with a double and an RBI. Jordan Wiley had two hits while scoring twice.
Ryan Orr allowed just three hits over five innings on the mound while striking out nine and walking none. Offensively, Orr had two hits including a double and two RBIs.
Alex Fultz had a two run double and Zach Prystash doubled as well. Andre Gard drove in a pair of runs in the third.
Game Two
Hope took a 2-0 lead in the third and went up 5-0 after six innings. Kalamazoo scored twice in the seventh, but Hope added four more in the eighth to make it 9-2. Kalamazoo scored twice in the ninth to make it a 9-4 final.
Josh Reuter was 2-for-2 with three RBIs. Six other Hornets each singled. Stefan Leclerc scored twice.
Kalamazoo and Hope are scheduled to complete the series with a doubleheader in Kalamazoo on Tuesday, April 10 at 2 p.m.
