Orr throws no-hitter as baseball sweeps Albion

ADRIAN, Mich. - Ryan Orr threw his second career no-hitter in Kalamazoo College's 7-0 win over Albion College in the first game of a doubleheader at Adrian's Nicolay Field Wednesday afternoon.

Orr faced just one batter over the minimum and threw just 86 pitches in seven innings while striking out nine and walking one.

Orr's first no-hitter came at Olivet in 2016. This is the fifth no-hitter in school history, and Orr is the first Hornet to throw multiple no-hitters.

Offensively, Kalamazoo scored seven runs on 12 hits including two home runs.

After two scoreless innings Kalamazoo scored twice on a single by Alex Fultz. The catcher drove in another run in the fourth to make it a 3-0 game.

Connor Grant hit a solo home run in the sixth. The Hornets capped off the scoring with three runs in the seventh highlighted by a 2-run home run by Fultz who finished 3-for-4 with five RBIs.

Grant and Chase Coselman also had three hits apiece in the game with Grant scoring twice. Andre Gard was 2-for-4 with an RBI. Jordan Wiley walked twice and scored twice.

Kalamazoo won the second game 17-9.

Kalamazoo led 4-0 after three innings before putting up six runs in the fourth to take a 10-0 lead. Albion scored four in the fifth to make it 10-4, but the hornets added two runs in the sixth and five in the seventh to go up 17-4. The Britons added five runs over the final two innings to make it a 17-9 final.

Kalamazoo pounded out 17 hits in the game.

Jordan Wiley was 3-for-6 with four RBIs. Connor Grant and Todd Bonnivier also had three hits apiece.

Chase Coselman and Andre Gard each had two hits while Zach Prystash had a triple and four RBIs..

Jacob Gilhaus earned the win in five innings of work.

Kalamazoo returns to action Friday, April 20 with a 2 p.m. doubleheader at Calvin.
