Baseball Defeats Albion 16-9

KALAMAZOO, Mich. - The Kalamazoo College baseball team improved to 7-0 with a 16-9 win over Albion College in non-conference play at Woodworth Field on Tuesday.

Kalamazoo scored twice in the bottom of the first only to see that lead erased by Albion with two runs in the top of the second.

The Hornets followed up with 11 runs in the bottom of the second to take a 13-2 lead. Kalamazoo led 15-3 after four. Albion scored six unanswered runs in the next two innings to make it a 15-9 game after six innings. Kalamazoo added a run in the eighth leading to the 16-9 final.

Kalamazoo had 15 hits in the game compared to 11 by Albion.

Doug Propson was 4-for-6 with two doubles, two RBIs, and three runs scored. 

Amani Karim had three hits including a triple with three RBIs and three runs scored. Harrison Poeszat also had three hits including a double with an RBI.

Noah Hecht had two hits including a double.

Adam Dorstewitz earned the win as the starter in a game that featured seven Hornet pitchers. Dorstewitz allowed two runs on two hits with two strikeouts and a walk in three innings of work. Joe Wade, Parker Sisovsky, and Cade Thune pitched scoreless in relief. 

Kalamazoo is scheduled to open MIAA play at home against Hope College this Friday, March 26 at 2 p.m.
