Bean, Poeszat, Propson earn Academic All-District Honors

Kalamazoo College's Harrison Poeszat, Doug Propson and Blake Bean were selected to the 2022 CoSIDA Academic All-District 6 Team on Thursday.

Poeszat, a junior catcher from Commerce Twp., Mich. (Orchard Lake St. Mary's), is a chemistry major with a 3.94 GPA. Poeszat is hitting .317 on the season with 44 hits, nine doubles, one triple and four home runs. He's also driven in 34 runs, and has a .985 fielding percentage behind the plate.

Propson, a junior infielder/pitcher from Rochester, Mich. (Stoney Creek), carries a 3.45 GPA as an economics major. Propson earned All-MIAA First Team honors for the secone consecutive season. He was named MIAA Position Player of the Week twice this season. Propson is hitting .389 overall with a team-high 63 hits, 12 doubles, one triple and five home runs. He also leads the team with 49 RBIs and 17 stolen bases. 

Bean, a senior outfielder from Farmington Hills, Mich. (Orchard Lake St. Mary's), is a business major with a 3.31 GPA. Bean was an All-MIAA First Team outfielder for the second consecutive season. Following a game in which he broke school records with three home runs and eight RBIs, Bean was named NCBWA National Hitter of the Week, MIAA Position Player of the Week as well a member of the D3baseball.com Team of the Week. Bean leads the Hornets with a .424 batting average with 50 hits and a team-high 17 doubles. He also has two triples, seven home runs and 39 RBIs. Bean also leads the team with 29 walks and has been hit 16 times for a .579 on-base percentage. 

The Kalamazoo College baseball team is currently 25-11 overall. The Hornets finished second in the MIAA during the regular season and are currently competing in the MIAA Tournament.

CoSIDA (College Sports Information Directors of America) District 6 of NCAA Division III includes colleges and universities in Michigan, Minnesota, and Wisconsin. As Academic All-District selections, all three players advance to the national ballot for Academic All-America consideration.
