Bowden Named MIAA Pitcher of the Week

Kalamazoo College's Alex Bowden was named MIAA Pitcher of the Week on Monday.

Bowden helped the Hornets win the MIAA Tournament and earn the league's automatic bid to the NCAA III Championships last week. In two tournament games, Bowden played a significant role in relief for the Hornets, pitching 4.1 scoreless innings while allowing just two hits. In an 11-10 win in the semifinals, Bowden allowed just one hit and no runs while striking out three in 2.1 innings of relief. In the 16-2 win in the championship round, Bowden allowed just one hit and no runs while striking out one in 2.0 innings.

On the season, Bowden has appeared in 18 games, compiling a 2-1 record in relief. He allowed just five runs in 20 innings (2.25 ERA) with 23 strikeouts.

Kalamazoo (26-11) travels to Marrietta later this week for an NCAA III Regional. The Hornets face host Marietta in the opener on Friday, May 20.
