Nic Janssen joined the Kalamazoo College coaching staff in December of 2018. He assists primarily with the pitchers.
Janssen graduated from Kalamazoo College in 2017 with a bachelor’s degree in business and a minor in psychology. He was a four-year starter for the Hornets, earning a spot in the rotation during his freshman season. The Hornets reached the MIAA conference tournament each of his four years and qualified for the Hornets’ first-ever NCAA III regional appearance in 2016.
Janssen played summer baseball in the Michigan Summer Collegiate Baseball League for the Holland Millers in 2016. He also spent the summer of 2015 playing in the Alaska Baseball League with the historic Alaska Goldpanners of Fairbanks, whose alumni include Barry Bonds, Dave Winfield, Jason Giambi, and Tom Seaver, along with many other current and former MLB players.
A native of Galesburg, Mich. (Gull Lake High School), Janssen was a three-year letter winner for the Blue Devils program, helping them reach the state semi-finals during the 2011 season.
Janssen began his coaching career in 2018 with the Around the Horn 9u team.
