In an announcement from the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association office Monday afternoon, Kalamazoo College's Viet Nguyen was named the conference's special teams player of the week for his efforts against Rockford University on Saturday.

Nguyen played a key role in the Hornets' 55-19 rout of the Regents kicking two field goals, including a 35-yarder with time expiring in the first half to extend Kalamazoo's lead to 24-13 at the break.

Nguyen's second field goal came in the fourth quarter as he split the uprights from 38 yards. He also limited the Regents on kickoffs, kicking one out of the endzone and two more into the endzone.

This is the second time in Nguyen's career he's been named special teams player of the week. He was also an All-MIAA second team pick in 2015.
