Frederick and Sweeney earn All-MIAA honors

KALAMAZOO, Mich. - The Kalamazoo College football team finished off the season by placing two players on the All-MIAA Defensive Teams as junior Jakob Frederick earned First Team honors and senior Quentin Sweeney earned Second Team recognition on Tuesday.

Frederick, a linebacker from Spring Lake, led the Hornets with 114 total tackles this season. His 11.4 tackles per game not only led K, but the whole of the MIAA in that category. Frederick stuffed the stat sheet this season with two forced fumbles, 7.5 tackles for loss, one interception, and four pass break ups to go along with this total tackle numbers. This is Frederick's first appearance on the All-MIAA Defensive Team.

Sweeney was also an all-around impact player from his linebacker position. The senior from Wayland was third on the team with 78 total tackles to go along with two sacks, four total tackles for loss, one forced fumble, one fumble recovery, one interception, and two pass breakups this season. He wraps up his career with his second All-MIAA selection as he also earned All-MIAA Defensive Second Team honors in 2015.
