Kalamazoo College's David Vanderkloot was selected to the College Sports Information Directors Association of America (CoSIDA) Academic All-America Second Team on Wednesday.
A senior from Bannockburn, Ill., Vanderkloot was a three-year starter for the Hornets as part of the offensive line. In the classroom, he maintains a 3.93 grade point average while double majoring in religion and English, and has been a three-time MIAA Academic Honor Roll honoree.
Vanderkloot has also been heavily involved in the Kalamazoo community as a tutor/mentor with Communities in Schools, a civic engagement scholar, and a volunteer with Special Olympics and Kalamazoo Peace House. Based on his community involvement, Vanderkloot was Kalamazoo College's American Football Coaches Association (AFCA) Good Works Team nominee this year.
Vanderkloot is the ninth CoSIDA Academic All-American in the history of the Kalamazoo College football program. He joins Christina Dandar (women's soccer) as the College's second Academic All-American this year.
