Football Defeats Greenville 42-7

KALAMAZOO, Mich. - The Kalamazoo College football team improved to 2-0 with a 42-7 win over Greenville University at Angell Field on Saturday.

The Hornets wasted no time getting on the board, scoring their first touchdown less than two minutes into the game.

Kalamazoo led 21-0 after 10 minutes of play. The visiting Panthers scored with just over a minute left in the first to make it a 21-7 game.

Kalamazoo scored three more touchdowns in the second quarter to take a 42-7 lead into halftime. The Hornets maintained that score through the second half.

Zach VanFaussien was 17-of-23 passing for 213 yards with four touchdowns. He also rushed for 34 yards with a touchdown.

Jared Pittman, Dylan Padget, Zak Zagon and Sam Matthews were each on the receiving end of touchdown passes. 

Pittman rushed for 54 yards on 11 carries and had four receptions for 31 yards.

Zak Zagon led the Hornets with 50 yards receiving on three catches. Matthews had 44 yards on two catches while Dylan Padget had 36 yards on three catches.

Jake Sypniewski and Taylor Jackson led the Hornet defense with seven tackles apiece. Matt Ford had six tackles and returned a fumble 60 yards for a touchdown midway through the second quarter.

Noah Coplan had 1.5 sacks while Dominic Moore and Isaiah Fleming were also in on sacks.

Kalamazoo returns to action next Saturday, Sept. 15 at Rockford University in Illinois.
