Men's Basketball falls to Hope

KALAMAZOO, Mich. - The Kalamazoo College men's basketball team lost 78-58 to Hope College Saturday. 

The Hornets got off to a slow start while Hope shot 53.6 percent in the first half en route to a 46-22 lead at the break. Kalamazoo cut the deficit to 14 (65-51) with 6:31 remaining, but could not get any closer despite outscoring the Flying Dutchmen 36-32 in the second half.

Hope shot 47.1 percent overall while Kalamazoo shot 43.2 percent. Hope sank 22-of-27 free throws compared to 13-of-25 for the Hornets.

Josh Whitney led Kalamazoo with 14 points and five rebounds. Josh Miller scored 11 points on 4-of-6 shooting off the bench.

Chase Baysdell added eight points, nine rebounds and six assists while Jake Whitney scored eight points with four rebounds.

Kalamazoo returns to action Wednesday, Jan. 25 at Adrian.
