HOLLAND, Mich. - The Kalamazoo College men's basketball team came up a little short in a 72-65 loss at No. 16 Hope on Wednesday.

Kalamazoo led by as many as eight points in the first half before entering halftime down 29-27.

The Hornets evened the score early in the second half but were never able to regain the lead. Hope pulled ahead by 14 with 5:49 remaining, but Kalamazoo chipped away before running out of time.

Kalamazoo shot 42.6 percent overall while Hope shot 35.6 percent. Kalamazoo made 20-of-29 free throws compared to 21-of-27 for Hope. Kalamazoo outrebounded Hope 44-30, but turnovers were a problem for the Hornets.

Alex Dykema led Kalamazoo with 10 points on 4-of-7 shooting with a pair of free throws.

Jimmy Paprocki and Tanner Blyly each finished with nine points while Jake Whitney and Chase Baysdell each scored eight. Josh Whitney and Josh Miller scored six apiece.

Baysdell led the team with nine rebounds while Paprocki grabbed seven.

Kalamazoo returns home to face Adrian on Senior Day on Saturday, Feb. 18 at 3 p.m.
