Men's Basketball takes care of Concordia

RIVER FOREST, Ill. - The Kalamazoo College men's basketball team won its third game in a row with a 98-71 victory on the road over Concordia (Ill.).

The Hornets trailed early before trading the lead back and forth with Concordia for the majority of the first half. With five minutes remaining in the first period, however, Kalamazoo caught fire from the field and grabbed control of the game with a 17-2 run. The Hornets took a 15 point advantage into halftime after shooting 57.1 percent from the floor and 50 percent from the behind the arc in the opening period. 

Ben Reiter led the way for K with nine points in 10 minutes in the first half.

Concordia opened the second half with a basket to cut the deficit to 13 points, but the Cougars would never get any closer as Kalamazoo quickly stretched the lead to more than 20 points. The Hornets maintained and gradually increased their lead throughout the half behind more hot shooting as K hit 65.5 percent of their shots from the field and 54.5 percent from deep to help them run away with the game.

For the game the Hornets shot a blistering 61.4 percent from the field and 52.6 percent from three point range in their best offensive showing of the season. 15 players saw action in the contest for Kalamazoo, highlighted by freshman Jeremiah Vincent's career high 17 points. Ben Reiter finished the game with 11 points and Tanner Blyly chipped in 14 points after a perfect 5-5 performance from the floor in the second half.

Concordia was held to 42.4 percent shooting from the field and 25 percent from behind the arc and were led by Mitch Pelissier who finished with 21 points.

Kalamazoo will return to action on December 22nd as they again travel to Illinois to take on Benedictine at 8 p.m.
