Men's Basketball Competes at Western Michigan

KALAMAZOO, Mich. - The Kalamazoo College men's basketball team lost 110-70 in an exhibition game at Division I Western Michigan University on Saturday.

Kalamazoo scored the first basket of the game and hung with the Broncos in the first half as the Hornets trailed by just 10 (47-37) at halftime.

Western got things going early in the second half and pulled away for the win.

The host Broncos shot 59 percent overall while making 17-of-30 3-pointers (56.7 percent) and 21-of-28 free throws (75 percent). Kalamazoo shot 50 percent from the field while making 6-of-15 3's (40 percent) and 14-of-25 free throws (56 percent). Western held a 36-23 advantage in rebounds, including 10-5 on the offensive end.

Ben Reiter led Kalamazoo with 19 points on 6-of-10 shooting including 3-for-3 from behind the arc. Jeremiah Vincent added 15 points on 6-of-9 shooting.

Merritt Hamann scored eight points while Marty Ward and Drew Sheckell each finished with seven.

Drake Thompson led the Hornets in rebounds with five.

Kalamazoo is scheduled to play an exhibition at Division I Oakland University on Tuesday, Nov. 6 at 7 p.m.
