KALAMAZOO, Mich. - The Kalamazoo College men's basketball team defeated Earlham College 74-66 inside Anderson Athletic Center on Thursday.

Kalamazoo got out to an early lead and led by as many as 16 points (31-15) before taking a 41-30 lead into halftime.

The visiting Quakers cut the deficit to seven in the early minutes of the second half before making it a four point game midway through the half. Earlham cut it to two (59-57) with 7:31 remaining, but never held a lead in the game. Earlham was still within four points (70-66) with 26 seconds remaining, but the Quakers were unable to score on their final three possessions.

Kalamazoo shot 46.3 percent from the field while making 20-of-29 free throws. Earlham shot 38.3 percent while going 16-for-21 at the line. Kalamazoo held a 39-34 advantage in rebounds.

Tanner Blyly and Ben Reiter each scored 15 points to lead the Hornets offensively. Blyly added six assists and three steals while Reiter finished with six rebounds.

Jeremiah Vincent scored 13 points with three rebounds while Drake Thompson scored seven points with a team-high eight rebounds.

Tre Humes and Merritt Hamann added eight and seven points, respectively, while Bass Ollie grabbed seven rebounds to go with his four points.

Kalamazoo returns to action on Jan. 2 when the Hornets open league play at Alma at 7:30 p.m.
