Men's Basketball Defeated at Hope

HOLLAND, Mich. - The Kalamazoo College men's basketball team was defeated 87-65 at Hope College on Saturday afternoon. 

The Hornets got off to a hot start connecting on 14 of their first 20 shots to get out to a 30-8 lead just 11 minutes into the game. 

Kalamazoo took a 37-30 lead into the halftime break while connecting on 50 percent of its shots in the half. 

The Dutchmen found their touch in the second half by making 19 of 31 shot attempts and holding the Hornets to 28 points. 

Ben Reiter led the way offensively with 23 points. He connected on six of nine Hornet makes in the second half. 

Jarnard Smith added nine points off the bench for Kalamazoo. 

The Hornets return home on Wednesday, Jan. 9 for a 7:30 p.m. tipoff with Olivet.
