Men's Basketball Tripped by Hanover

KALAMAZOO, Mich. – The Kalamazoo College men's basketball team ran into a hot-shooting Hanover College Panthers squad Monday night and dropped an 85-59 decision at Anderson Athletic Center.

The Panthers made their first three-point basket of the game just 55 seconds in and kept on shooting with precision. At the half, Hanover had made 18-30 from the field (60%) and 8-14 from beyond the three-point line (57%), as they took a 47-24 lead into the locker room.

Kalamazoo was unable to match Hanover's blistering first-half pace, making 10-29 overall (35%) and just 3-14 from distance (21%). Hanover continued to extend the lead in the second half, pushing it to as much as 32 points, 67-35, with 9:22 remaining in the game.

Nicholas Olmeda paced the Hornets (3-8) with 16 points. Lukas Broadsword chipped in nine points and a game-high 11 rebounds, and Gabriel Sharp notched 10 points.

Hanover finished the game with advantages in overall shooting percentage (50-37%), 3-point shooting (44-26%), rebounds (41-32) and assists (22-13).

The Hornets won't have any time to dwell on Monday's result, as they host North Central (Ill.) for a 4 p.m. tipoff on Tuesday.
