OLIVET, Mich. – In the first athletic event of the 2016-17 academic year, the men's golf team competed in day one of the Lou Collins Memorial Tournament hosted by Olivet.
The Hornets combined to shoot a team score of 290 putting them one stroke ahead of Hope heading into the tournament's final day of competition.
Leading the way for the Hornets was sophomore Nick Ludka who shot at 71 on the par 72 Bedford Valley course.
Right behind him were seniors David Smith and Phil Ritchie along with sophomore Travis Veenhuis. The trio each shot a one-over 73.
Collectively just two strokes over par, Kalamazoo will look to close out play with another strong showing Saturday. First tee time is set for 10 a.m.
