GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - The Kalamazoo College men's golf team finished third out of four teams at the first MIAA Spring Qualifying Round, shooting 305 at Watermark Country Club.

The top four teams from the fall compete in three rounds this spring with the top team advancing to the NCAA III Championships.

Kalamazoo's 305 was four strokes behind Calvin (301) and 13 behind Hope (292). Trine finished fourth at 325.

Phil Ritchie tied for fourth overall with an even-par 72 on Saturday. Nick Ludka was two over at 74.

Travis Veenhuis (78) and David Smith (81) rounded out the top four for the Hornets.

The final two rounds are hosted by Hope at Wuskowhan in West Olive, Mich. next Friday and Saturday, April 28-29.
