Men's Golf Finishes Second at MIAA Qualifier

WEST OLIVE, Mich. - The Kalamazoo College men's golf team finished second overall following the third round of the MIAA Spring Qualifying Tournament.

Kalamazoo entered Saturday's final round with a one stroke lead over Hope, but the Flying Dutchmen scored five strokes better than the Hornets on Saturday to win the tournament and advance to the NCAA III Championships. Hope shot 292 on Saturday and finished with 902 strokes overall. Kalamazoo shot 297 on Saturday and totalled 906. Trine came in third overall at 932 while Calvin was fourth at 951.

Nick Ludka and Travis Veenhuis tied for fourth overall on Saturday with rounds of 71. Ludka was the overall medalist for the tournament with a three-round score of 214.

Jackson Jones came in at 77 while Parker Pickell and Mathew Holmes-Hackerd each shot 78.

The second place finish was Kalamazoo's best finish ever at the spring qualifier. Kalamazoo finished fourth in the MIAA this past fall.
