Best of 2015-16: Men's lacrosse earns first win in program history

Kalamazoo College Men's Lacrosse players celebrate.

With another year of Hornet athletics coming and going, we've reviewed the best moments of 2015-16 and we're shining a light on them one more time before the 2016-17 year begins.

This week's pick? The men's lacrosse team winning its first game in program history against Concordia-Chicago.

Winning Recap

"Men's Lacrosse earns first program victory"

CHICAGO, Ill. – Weather ultimately postponed the Kalamazoo College men's lacrosse team's first home game in program history, but the weather couldn't postpone the Hornets' first win.

K traveled to Concordia-Chicago Thursday afternoon after originally being scheduled to play Wednesday in Kalamazoo and came away with a 10-3 defeat of the hosting Cougars.

The Hornets were ready to go from the start scoring the first six goals of the game, building a strong cushion between them and their counterpart.

After the Cougars mounted a small comeback making the score 7-3, the Hornets distanced themselves down the stretch scoring the final three goals.

Leading the charge on the attack was Hans Wieland for Kalamazoo. Wieland ended the afternoon with three goals.

Also scoring multiple goals for K were Clapton Marquis and Brett Fitzgerald as they each ended the afternoon with two goals apiece. Marquis also recorded an assist while Fitgerald went 10-for-13 on face-offs.

Alex DykemaZack Ladd and Zach Morales each added a goal themselves while Kellen Radulski led the way with three assists.

Kalamazoo won the battle in terms of ground balls 34-20. The Hornets also outshot the Cougars 54-28.

Kalamazoo will host its home opener, pending any unforeseeable weather, on March 11 against Carroll.
