KALAMAZOO, Mich. – The Kalamazoo College men's lacrosse team came within a half second of taking Trine University to overtime Tuesday afternoon, but Doug Shipp's goal was disallowed due to the end of regulation and the Hornets fell to the Thunder, 6-5, in Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association action.

Trine managed to jump out to a 4-0 lead by the end of the first quarter, but it was the Hornets who carried play the rest of the way. Brett Fitzgerald recorded the Hornets first goal at the 12:44 mark of the second quarter.

Doug Shipp and Fitzgerald picked up two more goals before the half ended allowing K to draw within one.

After Trine struck first in the second half, back-to-back goals from Fitzgerald and Harrison Ramsey leveled the score with 4:43 to play but Trine's Nick Maher got the game-winning goal 36 seconds later.

Kalamazoo will look to build off its effort this Saturday when the Hornets host Hope College.
