WHEATON, Ill. – After drawing DePauw 1-1 in its first game of 2016, the Kalamazoo College men's soccer team hoped to pick up its first win of the season Friday evening against Elmhurst, but the Hornets came up short.

Elmhurst defeated K, 2-0.

The Bluejay's Matt McNamara came close to breaking the deadlock in the 20th minute of play as his shot deflected off the post, but Kalamazoo kept its focus defensively and the game remained in the balance heading into halftime.

Cal Kirchen led the Hornets with two shots in the first half of play.

Elmhurst ultimately broke the scoreless game in the 55th minute with a goal from Josh Arvidson.  Less than ten minutes later the Bluejays struck again with Angel Carreno scoring from the top of the 18.

Kyle Hernandez placed two shots on frame for the Hornets as the Bluejays slightly outshot Kalamazoo, 7-5.

The Hornets are back in action Saturday night as they take on Wheaton at 8 p.m.
