The Kalamazoo College men's soccer team was named an academic award winner Thursday, Oct. 6 by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America for the 2015-16 academic year.

In order to be eligible for the award, the team's cumulative grade point average had to register higher than a 3.0. The Hornets recorded an impressive 3.38 team GPA in 2015-16.

The Hornets are one of 314 men's programs in the country to earn the distinction and Kalamazoo is just one of 222 schools in the nation to have both its men's and women's teams awarded the recognition.

Kalamazoo, which currently sits two points out of second place in the MIAA with a 3-2-2 conference record, travels to Olivet on Saturday, Oct. 8 for a 2:30 p.m. scheduled game.
