KALAMAZOO, Mich. – With just three regular season games remaining, the Kalamazoo College men's soccer team is back in the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association's top four.

Wednesday evening at MacKenzie Field, Kalamazoo defeated Trine University, 3-0, led by a two-goal performance from Kyle Hernandez.

Finn Johnson was the first to strike for the Hornets when he received a whipped in ball from Brenden Groggel in the 17th minute of play and scored his first collegiate goal.

Hernandez took over in the second half. Collin Sweet made a strong run down the left flank in the 48th minute before serving a ball on the ground for Hernandez's finish into the top corner.

Just eight minutes later, Kalamazoo drew a penalty kick and it was Hernandez, again, giving K the definitive 3-0 lead.

The Hornets will hit the road this Saturday for a match with Adrian with another chance to continue climbing the MIAA standings. Game time is set for 2 p.m.
