GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - The Kalamazoo College men's soccer team went on the road to face #9 Calvin on Saturday evening (Oct. 22). After the Hornets controlled the pace offensively in the first half, the Knights scored three times in the second half to get the 3-0 MIAA win.

Kalamazoo totaled 11 shots in the first half, with four having a chance to score. The offense kept the pressure on the Calvin defense and ultimately kept their offense quiet as well. The Knights only had four shots total and one was on target. However, none of these opportunities turned into a goal, as the game was tied at zero at the half.

It was all Calvin in the second half, as the three goals were scored within a 15-minute span. The first came in the 67th minute on a penalty kick, with the other two coming in the 80th and 82nd minutes. The Hornets could not sustain the aggression offensively by only managing six shots in the second half, with one on target.

Gavin Houtkooper made two saves on five chances throughout the game. Calvin finished with more shots (18-17) and saves (5-3), while Kalamazoo had more corner kicks (9-6), and both teams had 12 fouls a piece.

The Hornets will finish the regular season with senior night on Tuesday (Oct. 25), beginning at 7 p.m., at MacKenzie Field.
