Brie Powers joined Kalamazoo College as the assistant men's and women's swimming coach on July 10, 2017.

A Kalamazoo native, Powers swam at the University of Texas from 2007-2011 and was elected team captain her senior year. Powers earned All-American honors for the Longhorns, was a four-time NCAA qualifier, a member of the Big XII Commissioner's Honor Roll and a 2008 Olympic Trials qualifier. She graduated in 2011 with a degree in communication sciences and disorders.

"I'm extremely excited to add Brie to our coaching staff," said Head Coach Jay Daniels. "She has an incredible swimming background and knows what is required to compete at a high level."

Powers comes to Kalamazoo College from Kalamazoo Central High School where she was the head swim coach the past two seasons (2015-17).  She also has experience with the Kalamazoo United Swim Club and will continue to work with Kalamazoo Masters, a program she has been with since 2015. As part of the Kalamazoo Masters program, Powers works with the Swimming Saves Lives program which conducts free lessons to adults in the community.

Prior to returning to Kalamazoo, Powers was an assistant coach with Longhorn Athletics from 2011-13, leading and training swimmers ages 6-18.
