Sam Ankley of the Kalamazoo College men's swimming & diving team was selected as the MIAA Men's Diver of the Week on Monday (Oct. 10). Entering his senior season as a Hornet, this is Ankley's fifth time earning the distinction after being honored four times during the 2019-20 season.

The men's swimming & diving team traveled to Saginaw Valley to compete in a tri-meet, including Alma. At the meet, the Hornets defeated the Scots by a score of 214-77 and then were defeated by the Cardinals 231-69. This competition was the season opener for the Kalamazoo swimming & diving teams.

Ankley finished second in the 1-meter and 3-meter competitions after not competing last season due to studying abroad. He scored 237.95 in the 1m and followed that up with 237.75 in the 3m. Ankley was less than four points away from the leader in the 1m and was 20 points behind in the 3m. The diver was from Saginaw Valley, an NCAA DII school, finishing ahead of Ankley.

The Hornets compete again on Friday (Oct. 14) in a dual at Albion, beginning at 5 p.m.
