Sam Ankley Selected MIAA Men's Diver of the Week

Sam Ankley of the Kalamazoo College men's swimming & diving team was selected as the MIAA Men's Diver of the Week on Tuesday (Jan. 17). This is the eighth time in his four-year career that Ankley has earned diver of the week honors, including three this season. 

The men's swimming & diving team competed for the first time in over a month when they hosted Hope, Lake Forest, and Wheaton in the Michigan-Illinois Quad on Jan. 14. Hope scored the most points at 639 points, followed by Lake Forest (515 points), Kalamazoo (450 points), and Wheaton (322 points). The Hornets had 19 top-eight finishes in the 13 events.

Ankley was the best men's diver overall at the meet in the event, finishing with the largest point total at 705.4. He took the top spot in the 3-meter with 284.8 points while finishing second in the 1-meter with 420.6 points. The 1-meter was an 11-dive event, while the 3-meter was a six-dive event. The only diver that finished ahead of Ankley in the 1-meter was from Hope.

Ankley's career-best for 11-dive events is 461.40 points in the 1-meter and 486.80 points in the 3-meter. His bests for six-dive events are 281.30 for the 1-meter and 277.50 for the 3-meter.

Kalamazoo will next compete in the Hope Tr-Meet that will include Olivet on Friday (Jan. 20), beginning at 6 p.m.
