Men's Tennis wins MIAA opener over Alma

KALAMAZOO, Mich. - The Kalamazoo College men's tennis team won its MIAA opener 9-0 over Alma College at Stowe Stadium on Wednesday.

Kalamazoo swept the three doubles points before winning all six singles matches in straight sets.

Branden Metzler and Robert Hudson's 8-6 win at one doubles was the closest match of the day. Elan Dantus and David DeSimone won 8-2 at two doubles while Spencer Navarre and Eric De Witt won 8-1 at three doubles.

Metzler, ranked No. 10 in the region, won 6-1, 6-0 at one singles. DeSimone won 6-2, 6-1 at two while Hudson won 6-1, 6-1 at three.

Navarre won 6-0, 6-4 at five singles while De Witt and Alberto Ayala did not lose a set at four and six, respectively.

Kalamazoo (7-4, 1-0 MIAA) returns to action Saturday at Albion.
