Men's Tennis defeats No. 11 Kenyon

KALAMAZOO, Mich. - The No. 36 Kalamazoo College men's tennis team knocked off No. 11 Kenyon 6-3 in the Markin Center on Sunday. In addition to the national rankings, Kenyon entered the match ranked third in the region while the Hornets were ranked 10th.

After dropping the first doubles point at three, Kalamazoo's Branden Metzler and Elan Dantus won 8-2 at one before Zack Ray and Eric De Witt won 8-5 at two to give the Hornets a 2-1 edge.

Metzler, ranked No. 15 in singles nationally, proceeded to win 6-4, 6-2 at one singles. Kenyon evened the score at 3-3 with wins at three and four singles.

Daniel Henry made it 5-3 with a 3-6, 6-2, 6-2 win at two singles. After dropping the first set 4-6, Elan Dantus clinched the match for the Hornets by winning the final two sets 6-2, 7-6(4). Allen Vinson finished the match with a 7-5, 6-3 win at six.

Kalamazoo (2-0) hosts a pair of matches again next weekend, facing Coe on Saturday, Feb. 18 and Wabash on Sunday, Feb. 19.
