KALAMAZOO, Mich. – The Kalamazoo College men's tennis team clinched at least a share of its 79th consecutive Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association championship with a 9-0 win over Adrian College in the Markin Center on Wednesday.

Kalamazoo swept the three doubles matches before winning all six singles matches in straight sets.

The win lifts the 24th-ranked Hornets to a 6-0 record in the MIAA (14-1 overall) with one league contest remaining.

Branden Metzler/Zack Ray (1 doubles) and Daniel Henry/Allen Vinson (2 doubles) each won by scores of 8-0. Eric De Witt/Ricardo DelOlmo-Parrado won 8-2 at three doubles.

Metzler was first off the court in singles with a 6-1, 6-0 win at one. Elan Dantus clinched the match with a 6-4, 6-2 win at two.

De Witt (3), Vinson (4), Spencer Navarre (5) and Ray (6) each won their singles matches in straight sets.

Kalamazoo faces Aquinas at home Friday night, April 21 before closing out the conference season at home against Albion on Saturday.

Kalamazoo's string of championships dates back to 1936. The Hornets have won the title outright every year except for three seasons (1944-46) during World War II when no competition was held, in 1962 and 2003 when the Hornets shared the championship with Hope College, and in 2013 when Kalamazoo, Hope, and Calvin shared the title. Kalamazoo has lost only three conference dual matches since 1935.
