Men's Tennis defeats Aquinas 7-2

KALAMAZOO, Mich. - The Kalamazoo College men's tennis team defeated Aquinas College 7-2 in non-conference play in the Markin Center on Friday.

Kalamazoo, ranked No. 24 in NCAA Division III, has now won 10 in a row and is 15-1 overall. Aquinas entered the match 16-4 and was ranked No. 17 in NAIA (National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics).

Kalamazoo got off to a great start winning all three doubles matches. The Hornets proceeded to win the first two singles matches to clinch the match.

Allen Vinson and Daniel Henry won 8-3 at three doubles to lead things off. Branden Metzler and Elan Dantus followed with an 8-4 win at one before Eric De Witt and Zack Ray closed out doubles with an 8-5 win at two.

Henry was first off the court in singles with a 6-2, 6-0 win at two. Metzler then clinched the match with a 6-2, 6-4 win at one.

De Witt rallied for a 6-4, 1-6, 10-4 win at four singles while Vinson ended the match with a 6-4, 6-0 win at five.

Kalamazoo closes out the regular season at home on Saturday with a 1 p.m. match against Albion.
