ST. LOUIS, Mo. - Kalamazoo College's men's tennis season came to an end with a 5-3 loss to No. 28 Kenyon College in the second round of the NCAA III Championships on Friday.

Kalamazoo defeated Kenyon 6-3 earlier in the season, however this time around the Lords gained an early advantage by winning two of the three doubles matches.

Kalamazoo evened the score at 2-2 with Branden Metzler's 7-5, 6-3 win at one singles. The Hornets took a 3-2 lead with a 6-4, 6-1 win by Noah Karoub at six. Kenyon proceeded to win the next three points in singles, including the final two in three sets.

Branden Metzler and Elan Dantus won Kalamazoo's doubles match 8-4 at one. The other doubles losses were close at 9-7 and 8-6.

Kalamazoo's season ends with an overall record of 18-2, the team's fewest losses in a season since 1991. Kalamazoo won its 79th consecutive MIAA championship and continued the streak of appearing in every NCAA III Championship since its inception in 1976.

While the team season has ended, Branden Metzler is scheduled to compete in the 32-player field at the NCAA III Singles Championships in Chattanooga May 25-27.
