Men's Tennis opens season with win over Oberlin

CRAWFORDSVILLE, Ind. - The Kalamazoo College men's tennis team won its 2018 opener 8-1 over Oberlin College in a regional matchup hosted by Wabash College on Saturday.

Kalamazoo entered the match ranked 26th in the nation and sixth in the region. The Yeomen were ranked 10th in the region.

The Hornets won all three doubles matches before winning five of the six singles matches.

Tytus Metzler and Zack Ray won 8-2 at three doubles. Allen Vinson and Ricardo DelOlmo-Parrado won 8-5 at two before Elan Dantus and Daniel Henry won 8-4 at one.

Metzler won the first singles match 6-0, 6-2 at two before Henry clinched the team win with a 6-1, 6-4 win at one.

Vinson, DelOlmo-Parrado and Ray followed with straight set wins at four, five and six, respectively.

Kalamazoo returns to action Sunday morning with a 9:30 a.m match against Wabash.
