Men's Tennis falls to ranked opponents

GAMBIER, Ohio - The Kalamazoo College men's tennis team faced two nationally-ranked opponents Saturday at Kenyon College.

Ranked No. 26 nationally and sixth in the region, the Hornets lost Saturday's opener 6-3 to No. 25 Kenyon College (5th in region).

Kalamazoo won two of the three doubles matches against Kenyon and went up 3-1 after a win at two singles, but the host Lords won the final five singles matches to take the match.

Zack Ray and Tytus Metzler won 8-3 at three doubles while Ricardo DelOlmo-Parrado and Allen Vinson won 9-8(6) at two doubles. Metzler earned Kalamazoo's only singles win 6-4, 6-2 at two.

In the late match Kalamazoo was defeated 8-1 by No. 22 University of the South (Sewanee).

Daniel Henry earned the only point for the Hornets with a 6-3, 5-7, 10-7 win at two singles.

Kalamazoo returns to action Sunday morning with a match against No. 29 Mary Washington.
