KALAMAZOO, Mich. – The Kalamazoo College men's tennis team has now won three of the four MIAA Player of the Week awards given so far this season as Tytus Metzler was named this week's recipient following a strong performance over the weekend.

Metzler, a freshman from Rockford, Ill., was undefeated in his matches to help power K to an 8-1 victory over Augustana on Saturday. Playing at one doubles, Metzler and partner Daniel Henry earned an 8-2 victory to help the Hornets pick up a point. Metzler continued his success at two singles with a 6-3, 6-2 win as K swept the singles matches.

In his freshman season, Metzler has been a consistent contributor for Kalamazoo at three doubles and two singles.

Coach Mark Riley said, "Tytus is off to a solid start to his college career on and off the court. He shows all of the signs that he will  continue to improve  and we are excited that he is a key contributor on our team.

He is being honored as Player of the Week for the first time in his career.

The men's tennis team will be on the road at Dennison for its next match on March 3rd with a scheduled start time of 10 a.m.
