KALAMAZOO, Mich. - The Kalamazoo College men's tennis team defeated Wisconsin-Whitewater 6-3 in a regional matchup inside the Markin Center on Sunday.
Kalamazoo trailed 2-1 after doubles following a 9-8(5) loss at number one. The Hornets responded by winning the first four singles matches to clinch the match.
Elan Dantus and Zack Ray won 9-7 at three doubles.
The first sets in each of the first four singles matches were all close. Daniel Henry was first off the court with a 7-6(5), 6-0 win at two. Elan Dantus followed with a 7-5, 6-4 win at three. Tytus Metzler won 6-4, 4-6, 6-2 at one before Allen Vinson's 7-5, 6-4 win at four. Zack Ray finished the match with a 6-2, 6-2 win at six.
Kalamaozo (8-6) is ranked No. 31 in the nation and 7th in the region. UW-Whitewater (13-6) is ranked 11th in the region.
Kalamazoo returns to conference play with a home match against Hope on Tuesday, April 10 at 4 p.m.
