KALAMAZOO, Mich. – Elan Dantus has been named MIAA Player of the Week after leading the Kalamazoo College men's tennis team to a 4-0 record during a busy week of four matches and a 3-0 start to MIAA play.

Dantus, a senior from Okemos, helped K get off to a dominating start to MIAA play with a 6-0, 6-0 win at three singles in a 9-0 victory over Olivet on Wednesday.

On Thursday he paired with Ricardo DelOlmo-Parrado for a 8-0 win at two doubles and then won again at three singles 6-1, 6-0 as part of a 9-0 victory over Trine.

Dantus continued his strong play on Saturday, again playing two doubles and winning 8-1 and three singles where he was victorious 6-0, 6-1 to power K to a third consecutive 9-0 MIAA win as they beat Alma.

The Hornets returned to the court Sunday to take on Wisconsin Whitewater in a nonconference matchup. Dantus and Zach Ray teamed up at three doubles to grind out a 9-7 win before Dantus collected a 7-5, 6-4 win again at three singles as K took the match 6-3.

With this outstanding week Dantus remains undefeated for his career in MIAA singles and doubles play. A two-time First Team All-MIAA honoree, he is being recognized as Player of the Week for the second time in his career.

Coach Mark Riley said, "Senior co-captain Elan had a great week of tennis as he lead us to three conference match wins and one regional win. Elan leads by example on and off the court and I'm happy that he plays for us."

The Hornets will continue their homestand tomorrow as they host Hope for a match beginning at 4 p.m.
