Men's Tennis knocks off No. 18 Case Western

KALAMAZOO, Mich. - The No. 30 Kalamazoo College men's tennis team defeated No. 18 Case Western Reserve Universtiy 5-4 Sunday inside the Markin Center.

After losing the first two doubles matches Kalamazoo picked up a critical point with an 8-6 win by Zack Ray and Elan Dantus at three doubles.

Case Western won the first singles match at three to go up 3-1. Kalamazoo won the next two matches at one and two to even the score at 3-3. The Spartans won at six before Allen Vinson's three-set win at four set the stage for the final match. Ricardo DelOlmo-Parrado then won the clincher for the Hornets 6-3, 6-2 at five singles.

Tytus Metzler, ranked 24th in the region, defeated the 14th-ranked player 6-1, 6-2 at one singles. Daniel Henry, ranked 25th in the region, defeated the 22nd-ranked player 6-2, 6-4 at two singles.

The Hornets return to conference play with a match at Adrian on Wednesday, April 18 at 4 p.m.
